The NCTC volleyball team earned a conference win at home vs Cisco College on October 18th. With a strong start to set one, the lions pounced early winning 25-20. The team dropped the next two sets, but came back to dominate set four 25-17. In a thrilling point-for-point fifth set, the lions came out on top, finishing the game 15-13.
Sophomore outside hitter Emily Metzler played a solid offensive game, earning 15 kills and hitting .387 for the match, along with adding 14 digs. Metzler stands only 10 kills away from reaching the 500 career kill milestone. Another pair of sophomores, Marlee Howard and Joy-Lece Bateman put up 9 kills on the match for the team, with Howard hitting .368 on the match. Howard also added 3 blocks, and Bateman put up 4 blocks. Sophomore Kassidy Paul and freshman Kynadi Hall each added 7 kills on the match, followed by the freshman duo of Kate Walraven and Isabel Gabbert with 5 each.
Freshman setter and two-time Conference Player of the Week Alexis de Vries had another double double match, putting up 41 assists, 15 digs, 3 kills, and 2 aces. Freshman libero Alison Figueroa also had her first double-double match, earning 16 digs, 11 assists, 2 aces and a kill.
