The lion track & field team competed at the Nelson Invitational Meet on March 20 where freshman Purity Kemboi earned a top spot on the podium in two events. In the 1500m, Kemboi finished in first place with a time of 5:07.46, and again took gold in the 5000m with a time of 20:46.26. Also making it in the top 3 in the 5000m race was Naomi Kipkeck who took third, followed by Nia Bakari with 5th.
Bibi Van't Veld also showed out for the women's team earning a third place spot in the open 200m and sixth in the open 400m. Amara Webb added more points for the team with a fourth place finish in the 800m. In the 1500m event, Amara Webb took eigth with Brenda Villa next in ninth place.
Next up for the lady lions is the OBU All-Comers Meet in Shawnee, Oklahome on March 27th and 28th.
