The lady lions softball team picked up their first win of the season vs Seward County at home on February 6th. After facing a strong showing from Barton Community College on February 4th, the lady lions bounced back to take a big win over the lady saints.
In game one, NCTC took an early lead standing at 4-0 throughout the first 3 innings, and finishing the game 6-2. Game standouts included Faith Rameriz, the returning sophomore from Dallas who earned 2 RBI for the team. Also running up the scoreboard with an RBI a piece were freshmen Bailey Short, Holly Mahan, Natalee Smith, and Abby Wolf. Freshman Rylee Adams led the team from the mound, pitching 7 innings with 4 strikeouts and giving up only two runs.
In game two, the lady lions again took charge from the start, leading 2-1 in the fourth, and closing out the game with another win 5-2. Faith Rameriz again earned an RBI, along with Olivia Martin and Kayla Myatt earning an RBI each. With a split pitching effort of Carly Duggins and Sadie Richards, the lions took their first win of the season at Darwin Field.
