The NCTC Lions baseball team put together a strong week, securing wins over Dallas College- Cedar Valley and Oklahoma Christian University's JV Squad at home.
The team opened the stretch on February 13th with an impressive doubleheader sweep of Dallas College- Cedar Valley, earning back-to-back shutout victories 4-0 and 5-0. Brooks Griggs-Bell pitched through the first 5 innings earning 5 strikeouts, followed by Wyatt Sadleir who finished out the game, earning 4 strikeouts for the team. Jackson Ridge put up a double, earning an RBI along with Kai Reid and Austin Myers who added an RBI each. In game two, Brayden Stout, Merrick Beamish and Jax Stockton combined efforts on the mound, earning 5 strikeouts combined and preventing the suns from scoring. Offensively, Kai Reid put up 3 RBI for the lions, included a double, and Ty Besker added another RBI to the count.
On the 14th, the lions fell to Northeast Texas Community College 5-12 and 5-13 in a pair of high-scoring matchups. Standout athlete, Colson Wood, led the offense in game one with 2 RBI including a home run and a double. In game two, Blayne Hoelscher had an impressive performance with two RBI including a home run as well. NCTC continued to produce offensively, but a few pivotal innings ultimately swung the games in Northeast's favor.
NCTC responded in strong fashion with a solid showing against Oklahoma Christian University's JV squad on February 21st. The lion's offense came alive in both contests, stringing together productive innings and earning high-scoring victories of 13-2 and 20-10.
With the 4-2 stretch, the lions continue to build momentum as they move deeper in the season at 8-3 overall.
Looking ahead, NCTC baseball travels to Western Oklahoma State College for a three-game series on February 27th and 28th.
