NCTC Baseball Opens Season With 3-1 Weekend

The NCTC baseball teams started the season on February 6th & 7th at home with a big win over Moberly Area Community College.

Starting strong, the team took game one 11-1 with a standout performance from Colston LeGrand IV, the sophomore out of Grand Prairie. LeGrand IV put up 6 RBI for the team, followed by sophomore Logan Sanchez who put up 3 RBI, each of them also adding a home run to their weekend totals. On the mound for the lions was the Gunter native Brooks Griggs-Bell, and Wyatt Sadleir from Alberta- both returning sophomores for the team.

The lions dropped game two in a close 5-7 game, but bounced back on day two, to take the third game 12-2. LeGrand IV earned another 3 RBI on the game, followed by Logan Sanchez, Colson Wood, and Austin Myers who each added two more to the count. Robert Moreno pitched 4.0 innings for the lions, with 3 strikeouts, and Riley Hoelsher finished the game, pitching the final inning.

In game four, the lions again won with a final score of 5-2 to finish the weekend. Next up for NCTC baseball is a matchup on the road at Dallas College Cedar Valley on February 14th.
