Lions in the Community
After a doubleheader, the North Central Texas College Baseball team held a clinic with some local baseball players. Teams headed up by Colby Sparks, Cy Bender, and Steve Kessler brought their players out for some Lions instruction. After the Lions finished playing, the little leaguers were invited out onto Darwin Field for thirty minutes of defensive instruction. Lions' players went to their individual position and worked with the kids on specific defensive skills. After the part was finished, all the players went to the outfield to play a game in which several homeruns were hit by the little leaguers. Throughout the day, hot dogs and hamburgers were served to all the players, little leaguers, parents, and fans. North Central Baseball would like to thank all the volunteers from the Texas Cutters, Cooke County Lions, Cooke County All-Stars, and Lion parents for doing the cooking. Overall, it was a great day to have fun and play baseball. North Central Baseball will be doing another clinic day and if you are interested in signing up, contact Scott Harp at 940-668-4285.

The Lions have been volunteering their time reading to three of the local schools in Cooke County.  Players every Friday tdressed in their jersey ravel to Valley View, Callisburg, and Gainesville elementary schools to read to certain grade levels.  They start the program in the end of October until the end of the fall term.  The Lions have been doing this every year for the past six years.   In the picture is from L-R: Adam Kirsch, Ross Goebel, Daniel Sciantarelli, and Andrew Heldman.

The Lions' baseball team adopted two young boys this past Christmas from Cooke County.  In working with the Cooke County Youth Center, the Lions' baseball team donated their own money in order to buy several presents for two young boys.  The sophomores went out to buys and wrap the present.  This is the second year in which the Lions' baseball team has adopted Little Angels.  In the picture is from L-R back row: Garrett Harris, Kyle Felts, Adam Westbrook, Brett Abell.  Bottom row: Daniel Sciantarelli, Jake Arrington, Stewart Hill, and Kyle Estill.
