
North Central finished their season by playing Vernon College and Hill College. The Lions traveled to Vernon this past Saturday and ended up with a split. The Lions lost game one 16-7 but rebounded to win game two 12-2. On Wednesday, the Lions traveled to Hill College and won game one in extra innings 4-3 but lost game two 6-5.
Game one against Vernon, the Lions took an early lead in the 2nd inning with two runs. One by a Garrett Harris RBI single and a Slade Brown RBI single. The Lions lost the lead in the bottom of the inning surrendering three runs. Daniel Sciantarelli's sacrifice fly to left tied the game at three. The Lions then gave up nine runs in the bottom to go down 12-3.
The Lions got two back with a two-run triple by Stewart Hill. Andrew Goodman added a solo homerun to right in the 5th. Adam Kirsch singled home the Lions' last run for the final of 16-7.
Game two the Lions got a lot better pitching performance. The Lions got going early again with five runs in the first two innings. Daniel Sciantarelli singled home two runs along with a Slade Brown sacrifice fly for the 3-0 lead in the 1st inning. Adam Kirsch added a two-run homerun in the 2nd for the 5-0 lead.
In the 4th, Evan Ramsey tripled and scored on a Adam Kirsch single.
Jordan Harrison had one of his best outings of the year. He finished pitching six innings allowing only four hits and one run. Cameron Brewer picked up his first save of the year finishing the last three innings allowing only three hits and one run.
On Wednesday, the Lions finished their season traveling to Hill. Cody Bishop led off the game with a single, stole second, and scored on Stewart Hill's single to center.
In the 5th, Trey Summers singled and scored on a double steal with Cody Bishop. In the 6th, Daniel Sciantarelli doubled and scored on an attempted pick off play at third.
The Lions lost the lead in the 7th, but scored again in the 8th. Stewart Hill led off with a single and stole second and later scored on Reggie Rodriguez's fielders' choice.
Jamen Parten pitched six strong innings allowing two runs on three hits while striking out five. Ross Goebel picked up the win in relief giving up one run on three hits in two innings.
Game two the Lions fell behind by a run, but tied it in the 4th. Adam Kirsch doubled and scored on a double steal with Daniel Sciantarelli. Hill took the lead in the bottom of the inning with a run, but the Lions tied it again in the 5th. Evan Ramsey tripled to right and scored on Cody Bishop's RBI ground out.
Hill went on to score four more runs in the next two innings to take a 6-2 lead. The Lions would not go quietly. Three straight singles by Tyler Sain, Andrew Goodman, and Evan Ramsey loaded the bases. They all scored to cut the lead to 6-5, but that's all the Lions could manage.
Adam Kirsch led the offense with seven hits and 5 RBIs during the four games. Stewart Hill added six hits and four RBIs as well.
