
The Lions got started early in game one. Cody Bishop led off with a single, stole second, and scored on Adam Kirsch's double to center. He eventually moved to third and scored on Daniel Sciantarelli's ground-out.
In the 2nd, Cody Bishop and Adam Kirsch both had RBI doubles along with a Stewart Hill sacrifice fly to center to give the Lions a 5-1 lead.
In the 4th, the Lions added two more on a Stewart Hill RBI double and another RBI by Adam Kirsch to left pushing the score to 7-2.
In the 6th, Will Klausing doubled and later scored on Cody Bishop's single to right for the final of 8-2.
Jamen Parten picked up the win going the distance allowing two runs on four hits while striking out nine. He worked out of a couple of bases loaded jams only allowing a single run.
Game two was a pitching duel until the 7th inning. The Lions were leading since the 2nd inning when a Stewart Hill sacrifice fly gave them the lead. Jake Arrington led off with a walk along with a Daniel Sciantarelli single to put the first two guys on. Garrett Harris tripled to center and scored on a bad throw to give the Lions a 4-0 lead.
Starter Brett Able pitched his best game of the year. He had thrown eight complete innings without giving up a run. In the 9th, a couple of errors allowed the first two guys on. Ross Goebel came in to pitch. Vernon scored a couple of runs on consecutive singles to cut the lead to 4-2. Another error loaded the bases with no outs. Ross Goebel then bucked down and refused to lose. He got the next guy to ground out to third. The next batter he helped himself with incredible play in which he ran off the mound, fielded the ball on the run with his back to home, and then jumped in the air and turned to throw a perfect strike home to get the runner. The next guy flew out to end the game. It was his second save of conference play.
